How Loud, when Downpipe fitted
#1
I am currently running a TSL Grp'N' Rear Box and a Magnex Un-resonated Centre. How much louder will it get when I fit the Scoobysport Downpipe, which is currently on the floor of my garage.
Does it make much difference to the volume, hence should I be on the look out for a Magnex Resonated Centre Section ???

Not too much more noise though you will hear the spool up of the turbo - which som people unwind the window to hear more of.
It will also give you better spool up and significant bhp gains

Hi Iain,
I'll see how it goes.... I will be fitting my PPP ECU first, to see what gains that gives me..then the Decat once the PPP ECU performance has been got used too
Det Can thing still not completed...just need to drill and mount it.
Will probably fit it when I do the downpipe.

JGM,
I posted athread regarding the sound of the downpipe.
My turbo sounds like a warble as opposed to a smooth whistle, is this normal? (chattery).
My downpipe sounds a little tinny, does lagging muffle this?
Thanks,
James.

For what it's worth... A resonated mid section doesn't actually make it any less loud. What it does is change the resonant frequency of that part so it can appear to be louder or quieter.

I think it will reduce the actual noise level. Hemholtz Resonator, reduces the output SPL by using reflected pressure waves to cancel incoming. But it only resonates are a certain RPM and the effects will die away either side, there will also be 2nd and 3rd resonant points above and below, with reduced effectiveness.
The short answer is they do work.
