Hi,

As anyone got a review or ranking for the common classic back boxes? I know that scoobysport are good, and TSL, but what about jetex and milltek etc.

Also, ive seen talk of overboost and det on exhaust threads. Is this only going to happen with full systems or can a back box casue this. The rest of my car is standard, so the back box would be the only change.

thanks

In reality there is nothing to separate the 5 or 6 big names in Scoob exhausts - only personal preferance.

Me - Magnex 3.5"

I had a Milltek backbox on a MY 2000 saloon.

It was excellent quality and the sound was just right for me.

It's for a classic isn't it..... personally i wouldn't be worried at all about det and runnning lean from just an exhaust system, even a full decat. The talk of det problems comes from STi7s experiencing very big boost spikes when fully decated.

I personally went for a scoobysport. To start with it was quite quiet but over a period of a couple of months it got to be very loud. Very nice rumble to it.... won't be so pronnounced with just a back box but it would still give it a nice edge. In terms of other back boxes.... well i don't see that there would be huge power differences between them (not when just fitting the back box) so it would come down to noise and looks. The jap boxes (HKS, Blitz) seem to be far over priced for me although they are very shinny. I've heard a few Magnexs and they too look well built and have a nice rumble, my bro-in-law has a Jetex (Revolution system) and again very similar noise and looks good quality.

Maybe your better off waiting for the NBO and then you could look/listen to the various exhausts fiited to the cars and make a choice from there. TSL will be there i think too so you could get a discount on the day.

I do think that as said above there is very little to choose between them tho.

Tony.
