Red face

This one was supplied by PE with a higher boost target I gather - ask ScoobyJawa.

Ahemmm. That is rather high If held for more than a few seconds it should fuel cut.

If there is no oil in the solenoid and boost control pipework then drill out the restrictor by 0.1mm increments until it peaks under 1.25 bar in top gear when driving it hard - possibly 1.4mm will be enough to do it. I needed this size with my decat PPP.

Until you can do this do not allow the boost over this value by using part throttle.

Thanks

John

I have inddeed been trying to take it a bit easy on the throttle.

Would it be worth taking it to P.E, could/would they setup the boost levels.

How did you get on with diy mbc, are you still using it?

Its either that or swap my Morpheous Road Pilot for a HKS
Boost Controller.

David Wallis and i were fiddling with my car on Sunday, and we were getting 1.75bar overboost, often, too often, so we put it back to normal. I was being greedy, and wanted to see if i could tinker

normally runs at 1.25 to 1.3bar.

My tek2 ecu never hit 1.5 though, never

Steve, you could use a Dawes to good effect, but a knocklink would be a good idea.

Merv could sort you out as he has a draw full of fine drills and could drill out your restrictor in increments. Alternatively Maplin sell a set with 0.8,0.85,0.9,0.95,1.0,1.2,1.3,1.4,1.5,1.6 and a few others.

so the bigger the whole in the restrictor, the smaller the boost spike - but the slower it gets there ? ? yeah? ?

just wondering - coz I had my turbo replaced & it doesnt spike at-all, but seems very slow at getting to 0.9 & usually only gets to 0.8 - if that ..
so from what you are saying John - I need a smaller whole in the restrictor ????

why dont they mark on the OEM ones what diameter whole they have!?!?!

UK cars are 1.2mm.

Shorter actuator is tighter so higher peaks.

Hi All

Looking for some advice on the massive boost my car seems to be peaking at.

Obviously having loads of boost is great, car goes like a train, but I cannot really afford a rebuild at the moment.

Spec:
Nov 99 UK Turbo
Running Tek 2.5 (ScoobyJawas old one from J.B)
Full scoobysport decat
ITG Panel
P1 IC with Samco hoses
1.3 mm olive

Now scroll down and see the how much boooooost I am running.

I know - Scary - looking for sensible advice on what to do here.

I appreciate this is only the peak, but still seems v high

Thanks in advance

Steve
