'99 Impreza Wagon "check engine" light?
#1
Found this website; hope that one of you can help!
I have an above average understanding of autos; however, I'm not-so-familiar with Subarus, so bear with me! My girlfriend's '99 2.2L wagon developed a nasty accelaration hesitation/engine miss, right after the "check engine" light appeared.
Out my experience, usually this is something indicative of a failed O2 sensor, or a vacuum leak, but before I do handwork, I prefer to do brainwork, and see if there's something that is common to these cars that could cause this.
I was also wondering, does the subaru have a "plug and read" engine management system that, if nothing else, could have a "code" read by a technician, and diagnose the demon that way?
Thanks for any input. Hope to hear from someone soon; by the way, if it matters, it is a 5-speed, most basic USA-spec model. Thanks!
