I have my car booked in next week for a full de-cat system. I am reading alot of threads about the trouble de-catting a sti v5/p1 cause. Are these problems rare or do the actually happen alot. I have ordered a knock link and a boost gauge going by John Banks advice thanks John. I have also been told to get another fuel pump by other guys? How much are these? Do i need to get it re-mapped? Or are alot of you guys out there running your p1/sti v5 de-catted without re-map and causeing no trouble? This is just to put my mind at ease. Thanks you for any info Gary....

STi5 with ITG p/f, Scorpion d/p & c/c, Scoobysport b/b. Running on Optimax & Millars octane booster.

With this set up my car would det at peak torque in 3rd, 4th and 5th. This was checked via det cans (Knock Link was 80-90% accurate). You could not hear det in the car.

This was a couple of years ago now but IIRC peak boost was 1.35bar.

I stopped the det by drilling the restrictor out by 0.1mm.

An appropriate remap (along with a few choice mods) would be the best solution. Could save you a small fortune in the future.

yes you should get it remapped. Octane booster will help, as will teh detection gauges, but to be sure get it remapped
