Whatever happened about the DP splitter mod?
#1
Been off the bbs for a little while. There were a few people who were going to try this mod to see if it really did improve spool up and mid range torque.Any results?

Ive got one on my DP on recommendation of Pat.
It creates way way more back pressure & is truely awesome. I ended up getting Hayward & scott to do mine.
Anyway, as im selling me car, mine is up for sale if your interested.

Hi BL.It was your for sale post that reminded me of the mod.I gather you did'nt fit yours and I really want to hear some real life views before buying/fitting.Also yours may not be compatible with my car as the splitter fits into the turbo(I have a VF30)

hi
i also went from a fully decated open mouth dp to the one from APS which is cast iron with a spliter that can be cut to the desired length(so u can fit it with both td or vf series turbos).
first thing i noticed straight away was that the engine felt a lot smoother in operation from idle to the redline, which is always very nice.
secondlly the power delivery across the rev range was much more linear which means to me a nicer flatter torque.
thirdly the car with a dawes was picking up 1.0bar at 2600-2700rpm before the spliter and that went even lower by 100-200 rpm.so now i m having 1.05bar at 2400-2500rpm.but i kept the bigest single improvement for last...in part throtlle operation the difference is phenomenal compared to my old dp.the turbo in any gear and any rev above 1800-1900rpm picks up incredebly fast in part throtlle.awesome!
very good mod indeed i fully recommend it.

the previous dp was a "trust tr frontpipe" 2.75in dia no cat.
the aps "high flow turbine outlet" is 3in dia and i welded that myshelf onto the trust dp.
no i did not change anything else that might had helped for at least 2000kms after fitment.
i noticed the gains straight away especially with part throtlle the diff is simply amazing,i would say like fitting a second dawes(!)
one more thing that i forgot to add is that with the old dp boost creeped to 1.2 for a fraction of a second, with the aps boost is rock solid what u set with the dawes,i dont get the slightest boost overshoot.
