its a lot of fun now.......jst like when you first get your subaru for the first time.....its got a WOW factor again....lol

To be honest in no way do i concider myself to be rally drivers so i drive normaly most of the time, but it all depends if i get a fool who wants to play....( Saxo's Nova's The Odd Cossie, GTir Sunnys ) then im temped to hit the (B) setting on the AVC-R.....hehhehehe. the powerfc is also great on the old fuel economy...turn of all the fancy electronics and the MPG is great...so much better than the standard one..

quite a lot of £££££ but workth it i think..

cheers for the comments i ll post some piccys whenit all done....2 weeks or so

sorry for the late reply..had to do that awful thing called "work"...

The AVC-R retails for around £400+vat, with that you get the boost soilanoide and all the vacume hoses and the like, quite easy to fit but i could not comment on the setting up as i let RC Developments do that for me as they know there stuff.

The Power Fc came in at £750 and is a direct replacment for the old ecu, but this one has all the bells and whistles on it..lol
It will run the Subaru straight out of the box but its a very crude map i have been told and is not recomended for any length of travel...
I belive it takes around 4hrs to map the car, but this depends on many conditions i would think.....my coils gave up half way through the map.....££££.
You will need a uprated Fuel pump and a ajustable fuel pressure regulator...or just big injectors..lol

the boost is set at 1.25bar at the moment on the high setting but, if you want more....ask, im sure they will tell you, my car has 56k on it.....its mint ( 95 WRX ).so im sure i could throw alittle more boost at it but i wanted the car to be useable every day as well...the AVC-R does this with ease as its got an -A- setting a -B- setting and an -OFF- setting so its up to you how you use the boost....but 1.25bar is enough for me....till i get pissed with it and add a few more psi ( only joking..lol )......

as for BHP...without actualy setting it on a rolling road, im not 100% but its good for around 350bhp, but i think ill run mine on a "safe" bhp figure, what that is gonna be, im not to sure yet , as i dont wanna sound like a "Tuseday night in the pub Bull****ter".

But ill let you know....

again as for the cost...not that sure again as im forever adding new toys......front mounted intercooler is next and maybe some cossie pistions...i realy dont know ( been looking at an Evo 6 !! ).but for now i realy happy with the results...RC have done me proud ( spins the wheels in 2nd and 3rd chirp-chirp.gripGRIPGRIP ).

give em a call, realy nice guys, and always friendly

well its not a "jesus there on fire" but chirps nicley when i change into third, has to be on a launch though....not a lesurly drive out then throw it into third...lol...
As for the remoulds....nope Goodyear F1's all round.....although they are nearing the end of their life.......heheheh, just waiting for them to go then im getting some spanky new wheels...

Im running the standard Turbo and the standard Injectors, just added a hybrid ( subaru/evo ) ajustable fuel pressure regulator, to cope with the added demand for fuel as im led to belive fuel starvation at high boost is not a good thing....lol
Hopefully i will be upgrading to a set of 550 injectors and some heavy duty internals.....been looking a a HKS/Apexi turbo, but there lots of £££££ and the bank is a little .....well lacking after this months purchases.......lol

all the best

ps i think is has something to do with the tyres......lol

Andy what have you done to the old flat 4 to get it upto that BHP...sounds inmpressive.........I await the list.....cheers again

Your set up sounds similar to mine, but i have an RB5

Apexi Power FC
Apexi Hand controller
Apexi Boost control kit
Greddy iridium plugs
HKS Hyper muffler (Full system)
HKS Super Power Flow
Nismo actuator
Nismo fuel pressure regulator

Am running 1.3 bar and I guess about 300bhp but I have mapped it more for midrange than topend.

Bloody hell.... 350 bhp on the standard pre97 intercooler and 380cc injectors. Fair play to you and RC then.

Just out of comparison Rich Wild used to run his MY96 at 1.3 bar with standard intercooler and injectors and got 319bhp at Well Lane..... that Apexi stuff must be **** hot .

Lads

This could be an interesting discusion, please don't make it a flame war

IIRC Andy F got around 350bhp on a TD05 with 380s with uprated pump and FSE. I think he had one extra injector though and a different IC Also lets not forget that Jay isn't claiming 350, he guessed that figure and suitabley worded it that way.

What I'm interested in is what power can be had from a pre97 wrx using std IC, injectors and regulator, only uprating the fuel pump and the mandatory exhaust, filter and turbo hose mods and a remap by either an Apexi, link, ScoobyECU or what ever.

I think given the spec above its good for 300 bhp @ say 1.2 bar. What do you guys think, is it possible?

Justin (trying to tune reliably on a very tight budget )

Justin.... Andy's power was gained at a much higer boost level than 1.3 bar and not with the standard IC (i think?).

If you want to keep things safe i'd stick to the rule of thumb 5cc of fuel per bhp, therefore 4 380cc injectors should be ok for 300bhp. If you start to run much higher boost the IC will just not be able to cope either. I'd stick to 300bhp as a target without spending big money on injectors and IC.... IMVHO.

Id love to throw mine on a Rolling road and actualy see what the final figure is,, but its safe to say i think it will be nearer to 300bhp than 350bhp......

The Apexi stuff is splendid, cant say a bad word about it ( price ).

Im gonna stay at 1.25bar now as i dont realy fance a new bottom end just yet.......YET...lol but im sure needs will dictate if i go any higher.
Ive modded the car in such a way, that i think i can build on.
The HKS gear is great quality and up to the task at hand, the Apexi toys grow with the development of the car, as its just a matter of a re-map ( I think ), But for now ive got a Subaru that can scare the pants of a 911...so im happy.......

all the best

Your main issue will probably be the gearbox well before the bottom end as long as you avoid detonation IMHO.

I agree with the gearbox John, as mine fell apart after putting on the VF24 but it as weak anyway
Why don't you ask Rich Wild to put you on the rollers at Well Lane next month?

Hi Jay,
the only way to get true bhp/torque output of an engine is on an engine dyno, which is not an option for most people, failing that something like a rototest dynamic electrical chassis dynamometers, which is like a rolling road but the hubs are bolted directly to the machine no wheel spin just exact figures.

weather, temp etc will still effect the results.

Jay,

If you are trying to spin the wheels in 3rd, it doesn´t take long before your gearbox is history!
