Question

car is an MY98 UK, 52k on clock, running 260Bhp & 245 torque. also out of warranty.

I've noticed that the clutch is starting to stink like mad when pulling away in situations such as traffic jams, car parks, slow moving traffic, hill starts etc etc. I also noticed it slipping the other day when in 4th & 5th.

From these symptons can i rightly assume that my clutch is on the way out and a replacement is due. Only thing is, what with?

So, my questions are:

1. What to replace with.
2. Do i need to get both clutch and flywheel or get the flywheel skimmed(if its not cracked).
3. How much am i looking at forking out, inc labour & VAT.
4. Where to get it done in the South / Midlands area.
5. What gains did you see from fitting clutches such as AP etc.

I'm not after spending four figures here, i'd like to get good quality for a low(ish) price.

cheers
chris

Hi Chris, I had my clutch changed recently with a Lateral Performance one, I have tried some very high rpm standing starts and it has coped really well. I cant say what the fitting cost was as it was put in while the engine was out having the head gaskets replaced. Give Len at Subaru4you a call on 07771 636609 www.subaru4you.co.uk very good service and nice and cheap prices as well.
