Resonator?

Hi Guys
Pretty new to the Scooby thing, I've had the 98uk for 6 months and decided to fit a decat centre and backbox, I think the power is better, although its not as harsh as it was, I think its smoothed the power curve out a bit.
I've got a K&N panel filter coming this week (I dont really want to fit an Induction Kit) And I've heard about removing the resonator??....what does this entail???
