Piston Slap again!!
#1
Does anyone know if its possible to get piston slap come back. I got it fixed on MY97 two months ago. I took it to a reputable Scooby place and was told problem sorted. Not cheap either. Now it seems the problem has come back (same noise) and I just can't afford to keep putting it back into the garage. Ive got the feeling they're going to want to put a short engine in which I'm pretty pissed off at as surely they should have done that from start.
Help me please!!!!!

I would have thought that if the car wasnt repaired to a satisfactory standard in the first place (depending on circumstances btw) then the warranty (3months +) should cover you for the new work?

When i owned a MY98 it had piston slap... fixed under warranty by the initial fix which was to fit a new piton to the engine... worked for a while then piston slap came back again...
Back it went to the dealer and this time they fitted a new short engine... whilst i had the car it never returned.. so that seems to be the fix...
Which of these fixes did the dealer do to your car ?

Theres a new sale and return off goods law that came in on the begining of April, Where upon it says you have 6 months grace. might be worth trying that alley, Its just a thought mate

Well I'm glad to find out that piston slap can come back and I know that it's not just my paranoia going into overdrive. My missus once said to me that if a bird pooped on the car I'd take it to the garage.
When I first put it in they just replaced the piston so I guess I better phone them (after reading my book on assertiveness) and hope that they can fix the problem for good this time at no charge.
I don't know about the new law so I'll certainly mention that to them and hope they live up to their reputation.
Cheers
