MOT failure ???
#1
Just had my car fail its mot [ggr sports cat downpipe is only cat on car]
is it possible that a dodgy maf could cause this problem.
failed on co2 emmissions three tries..... 1.3 1.2 and 1%
does seem to hunt a litle bit on idle after a thrashing..only had the maf replaced about 6 months ago !
any advice or ideas, oh and the mot centre is a good twenty minute 70mph drive away
cheers

I have been told that 1 cat is an mot failure full stop. however mine got through 1 standard in the center. Do you still have your original centre? you could just pop that back in, shouldn't take too long.
I suppose it could be the MAF but have you passed with just your 1 cat in? if it is the maf what MY are you? if 98 onwards are you running a non standard filter? There must be something odd to loose 2 that fast.
Is your car UK or Jap? More details would probably help

right lads this is the score...
my99 ppp ggr sports cat downpipe no other cats, dawes device, dry panel filter from jw racing.
now my car has been 'passed' but it failed on c02 emissions on three attempts lowest reading was about 1%.
car was well warmed up etc.
had a maf go just after it had been pppd but there had been a cone filter on which had been took off for the standard panel so it could be pppd, i think that had dammaged the maf.
SO i dont want to know about dodgy mots, cos i can do that, what im on about is paying ggr over £500 for a SPORTS CAT DOWNPIPE WHICH THEY SAY WILL PASS THE MOT AND IT DIDINT !!!
now ggr have said it could be maf or lamda failure so i was wanting your well experienced and varied views before i kick off
thanks
