Legacy Final Drive Ratio
#1
Can anybody tell me what the final drive ratio on a MY94 UK Legacy Turbo Rear Diff is?
Am trying to fit a new box and diff to the car and the rear diff is plated so now don't know if the rear diff is matched to the box.
Help.
Cheers

Glad this topic has come up as my legacy turbo box is on it's last legs. Do i need to get another legacy box or does an impreza box (uk) have the same ratios. If i need a legacy box does anybody have a good box for sale.

Is your gearbox gone in your legacy or is it ok & would you be willing to sell it. If it is gone would you like to sell it me as a doner box so that i can get it rebuilt. This would save my car being of the road for a week while i get mine rebuilt.

UK boxes from both cars are the same.
As for differences, Im not exactly sure, but for some reason, the impreza according to manuals, requires 0.5 litres more oil than the legacy.
Ratios are the same for all UK turbo boxes, the only exception being the P1, which is more or less an STI.

UK cars have a 3.9 Front, with a 3.54 rear diff. The transfer box ( part of the gearbox ) has a reducer of 1.1:1
Jap spec cars have the same front and rear ratio usually, as the transfer box is a 1:1 ratio
you will also need appropraite driveshafts for the plate type lsd, althouh normal impreza type shafts can i think be modified to fit the plate diff.
The UK rear diff will usually have a sticker on the back plate stating the ratio. Jap cars dont seeem to have this
