Chroming inlet manifold
#1
Ive been quoted to have my inlet manifold completely mirror polished then chrome plated. Will this damage performance at all as it will look the ****, just not sure about chrome and temperatures, dont want it whacking my inlet temp right up

You may well find it will affect engine temperature,as by doing such,it will not allow the heat to dissipate away from the manifold "easily",thats why most manifolds are "dull" / "matt in colour" or better still on some cars now, black plastic. Which is the optimum colour to shed heat fast.
Sorry if put you off, but better to suggest. Cant give any definative figures for and against as it all relates to engine temps at the time.

I have got chrome hard pipes from my front mount and they stay nice and cool because they reflect the heat in the engine bay instead of absorbing the heat. Black pipes would dissipate the heat but also attract the heat aswell making the pipes even hotter
I am also thinking of getting my inlet manifold polished in the near future and I am not concerned with it causing any problems.
Colin.
