Question

Morning all,
This morning i was reversing slowly at nearly full lock on frozen block paving, and there was some serious juddering coming from what felt like the front wheels.
It felt like the wheels where loose and were about to come off (i've since chekced them and there on ok).

Has anyone experienced this before.

I'm assuming the tyres were slipping on the icey paving and the awd didn't like it, well thats what i'm hoping anyway.

any thoughts ?

When I reverse out of my drive (again using full lock) I can feel the transmission tightening and a similar sensation of the wheels scrabbling a bit. There is quite a difference in turning radius especially in reverse with full lock on between the front and rear wheels.

Cool

If this happens when the car is cold, I guess it could be the gearbox fluid, having a higher viscousity when cold than it has when up to running temperature... this higher level of viscousity could well be increasing the locking action of the centre differential, so you may be hearing the sort of thing a type R/RA with DCCD will exhibit if you use loads of steering lock on tarmac with the diff lock control rolled significantly forwards. Try the same parking move when the car has been warmed up after a good drive... this may show a change.

Will changing the gear box oil do the centre diff aswell, or is that a seperate fluid change.

I get this in the morning its just the front wheels losing grip isn't it because there is no front diff ?

Both my MY99 and my P1 does this reversing on full lock down
my block paving. I got worried about it and then I read in
the P1 manual that juddering is likely to be experienced
when reversing on full lock due to the limited slip diffs
so really nothing to worry about.

Mines an MY00, that does it too, it's just the diffs moaning.

Nothing to worry about !
