What BHP and Torque figures can I expect from fitting a TEK2 or a PPP ECU to an MY00 Equiped with ITG Filter, Decat Center and TSL Grp 'N' Backbox.

I can get my ECU TEK 2'd or get my hands on a PPP ECU, but the PPP is coming in slightly cheaper.

What would u do ?

What Boost levels do they both run at ?

I am not going to try to separate the rolling road figures between them since they would be fairly close. The Tek 2 aims for 16.0 PSI, the PPP aims for 15.7 PSI. The Tek2 aims to hold the boost up a bit longer. Tek 2 has more fuel during spool up, minor changes otherwise to fuelling and timing.

Guys - are you OK to run the standard intercooler piping at PPP/Tek2 ECU boost levels. Is the pipe upgrade that Prodrive do as part of the official PPP necessary in your opinions?

It or the Samco variant are a lot less restrictive. This has been tested on the bench. They are also stronger.

The factory uppipe, inlet pipe, intercooler pipe and downpipe are some of the worst abominations possible on a Subaru

Glad I found this thread! I have my STi V3 booked in at Power Eng week after next for the EcuTek boost controller to cure my violent overboost/fuel cut-off problem. The engine's standard except for a turbo back Magnex. PE claim a power of 315 bhp afterwards and full drivability, do you agree?
I have high hopes for this mod, am I dreaming or in for a surprise?

Ive been thinking of doing an ecutek when my clutch dies.I have a scoobysport back box and itg panel filter. Would I expect about 255 -260 bhp after an ecutek and these mild mods? Also would I need to upgrade the clutch to an ap organic or similar to cope?

Be grateful for some thoughts on this from anyone who knows.

Also the dreaded fuel consumption - does a tek 2 take you from about 23 mpg down to sub 20? Just all considerations for me as i do 65 miles a day round trip to work.

Thanks in advance, Cal

That is a reasonable estimate on power. No you don't need an uprated clutch, but an AP would be nice. Oddly my standard clutch has never slipped once and now it is transmitting 370 lbft. Some seem better than others.

Re economy it entirely depends on how you drive it. All the setups will achieve a 14.7:1 air fuel ratio on idle or cruise so they should all be very similar indeed. If you take advantage of higher performance you will use more fuel.

Interesting points. My STi V3 has the original clutch and has endured 2 seasons of hill climb starts where all 4 wheels will spin and the car will pull 1G on takeoff (measured)and it is still in one piece, no slip no smells just bites. This is 5000 rpm and sidestep the clutch.....
the same car gives 20 mpg on a 'run', keep out of the boost and 26 can be had (bit boring..)and on a hill climb somewhere into single figures/low teens.
Just found out how much the PE EcuTech boost controller is, nearly £1000 when everyone has had their share! Better be good.

Cheers John and 911. I was just under the impression that standard scoob clutches arent the strongest, but bloody hell 370 lb/ft is pretty impressive indeed!

Cool! Let the evil Ecutek plotting commence , evil grin!
