TD05 conversion hickup
TD05 installed in our Dec 96 WRX wagon successfully but apparently our ECU is the newer 97/98 model and therefore difficult to remap. Any suggestions appreciated. Not too bothered about maximum power, I'll be quite happy just to get the thing running well.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Yeah just to clarify...
I got the ecu and turns out that the car is 96, but the ecu has three plugs so is 97 - 98 = no remap..
Suggestions??
Electronic boost controller??

The air flow meter will allow the ecu to compensate for the extra flow so the mixture will 'most probably' be ok. The td05 is more efficient at higher rpm so ignition advance 'should' not be an issue.
The only problem will be that you will still run standard boost unless you fit a Dawes valve or similar to control boost.
I would recommend fitting an uprated fuel pump before you increase the boost pressure though !

Thanks David. So Andy, are you saying that on the balance of probability it will run Ok with the standard ECU and have approximately the same BHP as with the TD04 but if we wanted to increase the BHP we would need this Dawes valve or similar and an uprated pump.If thats the case, I'll probably leave it as it is as I'm planning to sell it soon to make way for an STI. From there it should be an easy tune for someone else maybe.
