i have just brought a new engine and the turbo is different to the one i got. i dont know where the main iddentifying marks are so i took them all down.

the first one is my original, off a 93 WRX import saloon. it has the marking around the exhaust side of the turbo, in a circular patern. they are :

78-10810 070


the second is out of a 95 WRX import hatch automatic. The markings are all on the back of the wastgate section of the housing, in a list format. they are as follows:

K2
1J (think its a J)
B52X
15-B (think its a B)
3

Any ideas on the difference. there are appearence differences, actuator is slightly smaller on the latter on, but wastgate arm is slightly larger...

anyone know atall? iny info on the different kinds of turbos used would be helpfull...

Look on the compressor cover for a placard, which should have TD04 or TD05 on it. This will be a start. Post some pictures if you like.

i take it the TD05 is a larger one, able to supply a bigger amount of air??

which one is best, i want pure kick and speed here...
