Tek 2 is a standard map which can be supplied by post from Ecutek or by visiting Ecutek. Tek 3 was the name given to custom maps when Ecutek were still doing custom mapping, it costs more, takes more time, and the results are better.

Other tuners using Ecutek system use different names for their packages. The suppliers that I am aware of of custom maps in the UK are Bob Rawle (SW/SE 99/00, 01/02), GGR (Midlands, at least the 99/00), myself (North/Scot, 99/00, New shape STi) and Scoobysport (Essex) do the 01/02 cars.

In addition on the Ecutek site you will see that there are other suppliers who offer off the shelf maps which are the equivalent or tuned versions of Tek 2.

The Tek name is used only for Ecutek's maps.

You need to research whether an Ecutek map is suitable for your needs, and also select a supplier.

Are these maps used on stock ECUs, or is a change of hardware required?

Stock ECU's, you either get hold of a 2nd hand one and send and get it reprogrammed, or have your original reprogrammed.

I went for the 1st option, the resale value of these is very good when it comes to sell your car so its nice to have the standard one to put back in.
