Hello, can anyone inform me as to correct grade of synthetic oil that should be used for MY01 sti.My local dealer here in South Africa has Petronas Syntium 5-40W aswell Mobil 1 10-40W 100% syn.
And is it safe to drain exhisting oil & replace with 100% synthetic without using engine flush.Any help will be appreciated.thanks

No problems draining your oil without flushing. Have a good drive and get it nice and hot and it will flow out no problem.

Both of the grades (5w40 and 10w40) are fine in the UK but these things can be affected by climate and i may not be the best qualified person to answer this question.

I am not familiar with Syntrium, but we have Mobil 1 here in the UK. The usual advice is to avoid Mobil 1, but Mobil 1 Motorsport oil is great.

I hope this helps.
