An easy one: Were the 432 ponies recorded on the same dyno as the 366 bhp of the MY00 with the stock fuel system and on the IHI VF24 ?
Although rollers can be considered inaccurate, they can be used for comparison purposes, better yet when tested on the same day with no weather - ambient temp difference. For example Bob R. had an excellent 465 bhp result, but he best described this as a 122 bhp increase from the last time he was on the same rollers:
so, this will mean that there is a 432 - 366 = 66 bhp, in other words this means that there is only a 66 bhp difference between an EJ20 engine with a TD06 20g / FMIC and one with the stock TMIC, IHI VF24 turbo and stock fuel system (very similar to a P1 setup) ?

PE rollers are "said" to be about 20bhp light in number terms, its all relative, I've always used PE as my comparitor, so far I'm 465 - 343 = 122 bhp up using the same rolling road.
something must be seriously wrong !

I would agree with the 'something must be wrong' part
Another way to look at it would be that the 432 pony car produced 10 ponys more than the 465(PE) pony car on the same day on the same rollers So taking the 432 pony car to PE would result in 475 ponys..... lurvly he he you gotta larf

Can't someone sort a web based application to work out how many corrected PE ponies "X" WL ones are?
Or even take it a step further and even have those figures corrected into real life ones?
I would think it'd be a hit over the pond - where we already have seen the "ponyfication" happen.

I agree,
We're all (mostly) pulling in the same direction so why do people have to (subtly) start turning this into a slagging match? Can't people get along and learn from each other rather than these snide comments?
Is the pursuit of power (or is it some kind of sad superiority issue?) really that important?
Also, I know PE have a reputation for being very optimistic but on the many occasions I've been there, there has always been at least one, and often several, standard cars which have produced exact book figures so I would argue that PE have sorted this problem out. And like Trout and I think others have said, the results from PE are very consistent over many runs, on different days, sometimes many months apart!!
Play nice guys, we're all supposed to be friends afterall!!! It's not Non-Scooby, it's Drivetrain (in case someone forgot)......

Not wishing to become involved in a serious rolling road/dyno debate - there is a simple way to determine if power figures make sense.
The dyno sheets you have will probably display torque and bhp. There is a simple maths equation that holds true for every application:
bhp = (torque x rpm)/5252
If your torque curve does not cross the bhp curve at exactly 5252rpm, you can throw the dyno sheet in the bin. This may be due to a number of factors, many of which the dyno operators have no control over.
Everyone wants big bhp numbers - but approach with caution.....

I believe that this thread has run its course, and as such am locking it.
Guys, i am really dissapointed by the bickering that seems to be going on on here at the moment, especially as it is predominantly coming from respected people.
If you dont change your stance, then i am sorry, but i for one will not respect you for your knowledge, which is very sad really. I am sure others will feel the same too.
Could we all just chill out, and continue to help others on this BBS, instead of hindering them.
