Just been out showing off the car to a m8...

had less than 1/4 a tank of fuel...

right hander... 90 deg... 2nd gear
floored it at 'apex'
bit of a slide, grip good pull away..

then no power
was thrown forward in seats
revs died totally

had to dip cluch n regain composure...

was it over boost or fuel cut?

So you didn't spin it then? Must be a better driver than Kenny

Sounds like Fuel Surge/Starvation, but even after 4yrs I've not had it yet. Must try harder

Thumbs up

thought it was fuel surge immediately... quite violent!

lol

this road is ace... farm road that zig zags between fields.. no fences or anything...

m8 was saying how it was like a rally stage... and i felt i could push it more... was hardly doing anything on the corners.. just powering out of them... so i dropped the speed a bit to prepare for the next right...
2nd gear, 2.5k revs, and floored it AT the apex... i.e. just before so it had full force at the apex... rear kicked abit wide and then the whole car slide left at an angle .. but powering forward great
just as it was reaching 5k - and stopping sliding to the left... thats when the power stopped... felt like i had stamped on the brakes

so it was the most i have thrown the car so far... so explains why i have not felt it before

good fun too

i can see why people like trackdays...

Very briefly...

fuel in the tank surges away from the fuel outlet of the tank and so you get no fuel to the engine momentarrily and the engine cuts and then picks up again as the fuel moves back etc..

Only happens on less than 1/4 and when you are really getting the G forces up on cornering etc..

Very roughly speaking.

i don't see all this danger in it. just some transmission hit. no worse than continuing slipping the clutch at traffic lights, but maybe i'm wrong..

Ozzy,

Yes I have a split pers---onality!

Caronte,

Because if you are mid bend and on the edge and the power drops / goes it is like lifting off the throttle and the back overtakes the front.. thats the theory anyway..

Never allow myself to get that mad.. on a public road
