Spark plug regapping
#1
After a couple of months of poor idling, jerkiness an general sluggish behaviour, I bit the bullet and did a re-gap after 7500 miles since the new plugs.
What a difference to the car (MY98)!! Its like new, nice and smoooooth.
All but one plug had gone from 0.7mm to 0.85/0.9mm except the plug on the cylinder nearest the driver (how are the cylinders numbered??)
This one was still at 0.7mm and quite sooty. I remember this was sooty when I put the new plugs in.
Is this characteristic of the boxer or is there a possible problem brewing in that corner?
This then appears to be an easy DIY job that may solve some niggling problems.
I seem to rememebr that the plugs are replaced every 30,000 miles? If so then it appears they would be very sh4gged by that time. Even by 15,000, things may not be running smoothly
Any comments?
