Has anyone converted a scooby to run with a front entry Turbo. Mark @ Lateral P. has told me this would improve things and i now have a turbo that i need to do this with.

The question is How ??

Any Ideas & Pics would be a great help.

I have been told the following but has anyone got any pics or further help ????

1) the manifold needs to be raised, so that you can get an induction pipe underneath.

2) you will also have to mod' the fuel pipes, as they foul where the induction pipe needs to go.

Look for some of Andy F's (aka Cosie Convert) posts over the last year in Drivetrain forum as he pioneered this.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Post

it is a big job.. need phase 2 power steering pump and pipes.. raise inlet, mod fuel pipes to clear inlet pipe if pre 98...

Get an inlet hose.. not samco if after mega power as they collapse..

Erm... Erm..

F.W.I.W. the TD05 can be converted to front entry quite easily by any competant automotive turbo specialist. Look in your Yellow Pages for a local one and use £70 as an approx. guide price.
I am sure Andy Forrest can give you a run down on what is required to get it to fit properly. B.T.W. Andy has now done a TD05->TD06 upgrade from a kit I imported for him from the States. If anybody needs more information on sourcing either of these mods just e-mail me.

Sorry Andy. Did not mean to take the credit away from your innovative thinking and expertise. As they say, copying is the highest form of flattery......but as you have it patented....
Will arrange for more to be shipped tomorrow.

John Banks,

"Look for some of Andy F's (aka Cosie Convert) posts over the last year in Drivetrain forum as he pioneered this."

Just to put the record slightly closer to straight... Pat was running a straight entry td05 conversion way back in late2000/early2001. He doesn't lay claim to pioneering such a conversion as Owen Developments had already provided this conversion for rally cars before Pat fitted one to his road car.

I'm sure Andy wouldn't want to be falsly accused of something like this! Especially if he's applying for patents on something he believes he really has pioneered.

Fair enough Moray. Andy has documented it well though. I was asking months ago for info, all I got was vague comments about water pipes not fitting and requiring loads of bits off Phase I cars to fit it.

You're out of order mate. Harvey is not making a penny on this, in fact he is losing out on international phone calls etc.
To date I have not made a penny selling scooby parts however I do have a number of friends interested in the hybrid turbo I have recently built so Harvey has kindly offered to get the parts for me.

When you're nice, others are nice

Andy,

OK I'll play nice - but there seems to be more here than meets the eye.

Not a comment pointed at you - but you are fully aware of Harveys deleted comments - and the sudden multitude of comments around VF turbos all of which point to a specific supplier...

...if VF turbos are a challenge - why no posts about the many other suppliers of VF hybrids?

I am just a bit puzzled that is all - and I like it when we all play nice cos it is much more fun.

When we don't play nice it is not much fun as I am sure you agree!

So congratulations to Harvey for being a Scooby charity - a bit more charitable behaviour would be nice all around

Trout

Trout: I will just ignore your sarcasm and I intend to post elsewhere to help you and Mark because both of you boys are labouring under a major misconception.
Now do me a favour and please explain this bit about secondhand new turbos because I honestly do not know what you are on about mate.
