And set it up to just a tad under 1bar at wot in fourth uphill, is that safe, the car is my00 with full de-cat and panel filter, I want it safe, I don't want to end up rebuilding the engine, I could probably run a tad more boost, but will what I've got be safe?
Cheers.
Ron.

Sounds very conservative. Maybe you should check the fuelling is right?

Ron,

Got your text but im at work. 1 bar is fine, you can safely do 1.1 if you like. Mine is 1 bar until I get the tek 2.5

Give it a try.

Agreed with claudius (eek! ) - sounds like you're very conservative to start off with. The MY00 runs at 14PSI-ish held boost as standard, and fuel cut is at 17.5PSI..

14.7 PSI = 1 BAR.

To check fuelling you can use an AFR (air fuel ratio) meter, which'll tell you if you're running too lean. Running too lean is something you definitely want to avoid . Either buy the dawes one, or build your own for less than a tenner - you'll need to know which is the hot end of a soldering iron tho .

Cheers,
Nick.

Cool

I ran 1.1 bar on my decat MY99 with no issues. 1.1 showing on my defi gauge. At PE this gave me 266bhp and 257lb/ft

I ran near 1.2 bar on a MY 99 dawes with just a scoobysport back-box. Assuming you are using high quality fuel I'd go to 1.15 bar if I was you as that should still be nice and conservative.

Ron uses Tesco fuel It doesn't like Optimax

AFR gives you some piece of mind, but at 1.1 you will be fine. As long as you have a good boost gauge

SB, did you have a fuel cut defender? If so, which?

No, it only used to just hit 1.2 bar in 5th, WOT with peeps in the car so it never made it to fuel cut....well........it did once when I turned it up, but I learned my lesson when I ate steering wheel

With Tesco's 95 RON I'd be skeptical about running any more than standard boost without a knocklink, etc!

Hmm...

The boost as such is no problem.

You wont blow the engine, either.

What I am saying is that you may run a little too lean, given the standard car runs a little lean low down, and thus you may get a little det. This will not result in immediate engine failure, just premature wear. the ECU will also pull the timing, reducing performance.

Agreed with claudius
Watch it, you start to make sense!

Yes, but not the standard lambda sensor. Only a wideband will do.
