I've got one on a P1, the red spring gives chatter but you have to rev high to hear it. The blue spring gives you a thskkkkkkkkkk. I'm on the blue spring and loving it

It's the Forge VTA dump valve, I just email Wendy at Scoobyworld, and told her what I wanted and what it was for. She emailed back and then I placed the order on the website for a 'Atmospheric for Impreza 1994-2000' dump valve for £146

Wendy's good at sorting out orders

You'll then have to ask Wendy for Forge's phone number and call them to tell them that your DV spring is the wrong type, you need the blue spring and they'll send it you for free

If you get chatter, its not doing its job properly as its back pressuring the turbine.

And as the chappie above said, you can barely hear it chatter. Ive heard people on here describing it like a WRC car which you only get if you blank the whole DV port off (not advisable)

Pshhh noise is the one you want = blue spring.

lol know what u mean mark. I think you have to take most things said on here with a pinch of salt. If u want real advice then speak to someone whose company fit them all the time like Trouser at TSL or Pete Croney at ScoobySport.

Simon.

There are a few of people on here that are techinically competent to comment But most posts are full of **** (not referring to anyone on this post obviously)

I wouldn't believe what most of the business' on here say either.

DBM,

I was only having a little joke mate [flame suit royally on now lol]

But...

The P1 is basically an STI-V, When I was going to put a Forge VTA on my STI-V Bob Rawle strongly advised not to as it does screw the fuelling up, now I trust Bob quite a lot as he's done a lot of mapping on my car etc, So in the end I went down the Forge Re-Circulating route, maybe I was misinformed I dunno hence my original post in this matter

Thumbs up

The sensible answer is, of course, that you don't need a VTA dump valve, cos it can have some minor issues with fuelling overruns, and this is why Subaru didn't fit them.

However, if we were that sensible, we'd sell our scoobies and buy Smart cars and push bikes....Loud exhausts would be out, ECU remaps a thing of the past, gold wheels a criminal offense and nodding dogs punishable by death.

So.... in order to maintain your lifestyle - fit a Forge VTA ASAP - you don't want to be responsible for the collapse of society.

I think when it comes to the P1 - STI v the fueling is royally f'd up before we the owners get our hands on them in the UK.

No P1 mate. Was looking for one for a while but just didnt have the finances/insurance background to make owning one feasible. Went for an MY00 Turbo in the end and it was the more sensible choice. I had about 2,500 posts by then so couldnt be bothered to change the name. Especially as I am still fanatical about P1's

Hi Mark, peter here.

Just thought i would add, all be it a little later than anyone else as i'd only just seen this thread, not sure why you thought you were getting a vta as it would only have been a recirc, NOT a vta!
(hence why i kept saying you won't really notice its there, except when you lift the bonnet!)

quote from my original email on the subject -
'Forge dump valve, hate to say it, but this for you will do nothing other than give you a shiny thing to look at under the bonnet and im loathe to sell it to be honest as its nothing but a shiny bit for you to polish…... '

Think that just about sums up changing dump valves on a car that does not need it, running standard airbox and air filter etc
