Seems like a hot topic for Bugeye owners but I'm yet to be convinced either way. Ecutek supposedly more power, less money and warranty friendly (ie invisible) and PPP = thoroughly researched and warrantied but pricey.

Any owners driven both and give me an unbiased opinion?

Also what warranty issues will fitting an aftermarket centre section and back box cause?

None with the exhaust. Checked this with my dealer on the current motor, plus that is part of the PPP mod anyway.

I used Scorpion bits as they are used by Prodrive, just badged up differently

i can only give an opinion on exhaust plus ecutek...completely transforms the car, more power, more torque, smoother and more economical..and loads cheaper...mine done by franchised dealer also!

Guys how much of the exhaust have you changed? Presumably centre section and back box?

Have you had a rolling road since the Ecutek? Has it sorted the 4ht and 5th gear power defecit you get, esp. on motorways?

I have a MY00+PPP and its great
Totally transformed the car from hesitating bag of ****e.
It pulls from just under 3000 rpm now and is putting out 260 bhp 253 lb/ft.
I'm thinking of going down the Ecutek/Blitz Nur Spec route though as I have got used to the PPP and want a little more power

Not sure if ecutek is warranty friendly. All the garage has to do is drive the car and check the boost.

They might have problems proving it, but if they suspect anything, I'm sure this will void the warranty if they/IM are feeling mean.

my01 had ppp with full system making 286 brake, 3 rd gear up 1:7 slope pulled 80mph

Now have tek 3, same slope 95mph and run out of road..........

Still holds same boost c1.2 though tek holds it better, errr much better...Power is instant vs ppp progresive approach (though you can programme tek to do it progressively)

Had no problems, can honestly say the tek 3 is far superior in all departments to the ppp system.

Just waiting for bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump and larger turbo, will let you know as soon as it has been remapped should be good for c320 brake,

"less money" ... errr dont think so... not when you include the full decat exhaust + the new chip, labour etc. Then the £1600 (and thats warrenty friendly $$'s) seems cheap!!!!

Then work out the potential cost of (otherwise warrenty) work over the 3 years, add that to the cost.

I did my sums and came to the conclusion that the only reason i'd need another 30 bhp was "bragging rights" / P@nis size issue... the PPP'd car is certainly quick enough in the real world...

So it comes down to cost my friend. If you've got the $$$$'s go the ecutek way, otherwise stick to the ppp and enjoy - and de-cat it after the warrenty runs out!!!

JZA - I would not go full decat initially, I'd go centre / backbox, which still gives more power than PPP and a lot less money. As you say, full decat would then come after Warranty lapses, by which time I'll have an Sti8 anyway
