Question

I have been told that you get more boost with a shorter wastegate, I am new to turbo's hence can anybody say whether this is correct.

If standard gives 0.8 how much shorter would it need to be to get let's say 1.0?

Is this a DIY thing or do you need replacement parts?

Plsd to hear.

I think you mean the wastegate arm, and tightening the bolt to shorten it. It's OK to do this by one or two turns to make sure the wastegate closes properly. However, if you shorten it too much the ECU cannot control boost, because it cannot open the wastegate, and you will get fuel cut all the time.

To raise boost, search for "Dawes", or think about an ECU remap / upgrade.
