Standard knock sensor any good for a knocklink?
#1
as above, gonna get a knocklink to be used in conjunction with remap (1.1bar), turbo back hks, hks induction.
My question though is why not use the standard knock sensor (i presume there is one on my 94 WRX?), I presume the new knock sensor you can buy is more sensitive?, or is it that my one might be knackered?

It is not a good idea to use the existing knock sensor that is fitted to your car, this is bacause your car/ecu uses it for knock correction and when you connect the knocklink to it it weakens the signal to the ecu and you may not get correct knock correction..
Rob.
p.s. i can get new Bosch knock sensors pretty cheap at no profit to myself if you decide to get one..
One thing to think about though.. The existing Knock sensor doesnt really give any display, before i fitted a new sensor i ran my Knocklink with the Std one for about two weeks. The Knocklink displayed no knocking what so ever, once i fitted the new one i found out what was really happening ..
