Cool

Yup to add to my other dmeanding and probably tedious threads !!!! lol
any one out there got any first hand knowledge on these, any figures or thoughts on em, especially when added to a ppp mid section decat and ppp back box ??
im desperate to get a new downpipe for some extra oooommmphhh
doesnt need to be supersonic but for £395 plus fitting needs to be fairly mean !!!
ive had lots of very good advice in my earlier thread but i still cant decide, ive become a total jellyhead over this one so im putting it out to the lads (and lassies) to assist
happy honika

How about using a P1 downpipe?
Aren't they supposed to have a sports CAt in them?

They don't fit to other systems either as the GGR system is designed to fit to......GGR stuff only!

I have a "spare" cat part you could buy off me for £150 but you will need to weld a hole up in it! Email me if interested.

As others say it doesn't fit too well unless you have hammered it. Mine is hammered already and off the car.

Another way round is to get a 'standard' decat DP (magnex, H&S, whatever) & then, if you want a cat in place, to get a catted centre. PE do one at a frightening cost; you could probably talk nicely to H&S (or another company that do one-off type kit) & get them to make up a catted centre for half the cost of the PE one(there are more than one type of cat - the scoob has the primary in the DP & secondary in the centre - the secondary isn't intended to do the whole job & needs to be very hot to pass emissions tests & also can 'wear' quickly if it's the sole cat - there's also the 'performance' cat which are self explanatory )

Catted DPs are few & far between - the later PPP has one, GGR make an attempt, MRT do one (expensive & needs other MRT parts to fit to) and APS do a full system only.
Aside from that, I know of none...

Soo basically i should just forget about a sports cat downpipe by the sounds of things and just go for a decent open downpipe ???? then find eithera friendly mot centre or a dealer that will just whip on a catted centre section for its mot ??????
AND SOOOOO if that is the general concensus.... what decatted downpipe for a my99 wagon with the ppp, and people its on me card so pull nooo punches gimmi the best lolol
by the time i get this downpipe you lot will be like proud fathers !!

Paul,
I picked the P1 d/p off Scoobynet brand new at £50 so keep your eyes open.
Tim... are you refering to the P1 d/p? If so then it does fit a std system.
I'm still not sure if the P1 d/p REALLY has a sports CAT as I've had conflicting info so can anyone else comment??

So does the GGR exhaust pass the MOT? If not, then how do you get it to if no other exhaust part will fit with it?

Buy a heywood and scott downpipe and keep the centre cat - simple really. If you do a full de cat its only a half hour job to put the center cat back on

My GGR pipe passed the MOT no problems last year.....and with no fiddling either.

The Pipe was fitted to my 22B so should fit a P1.

It takes a lot of hammering to get it to the right shape to fit initially. Mine has been heated and hammered to get it to fit so should need no more hammering! Still the good thing is they are both from the same age car....mine is a 99 too.

I think it looks nice but not sure how feasable it is to fit it to other exhaust parts other than there own system (ie GGR) but have been thinking of getting a different one so may consider selling the lot!

Mine had to be hammered to stop it knocking on the underside of the car.

the pipes connect via sleeves, rather than the flanges that Scoobysport etc connect with.

The GGR exhaust is 3" bore, and I'm happy with mine.

dunno maybe its me being a bit of a mechanical muppet type but when people are saying they need to hammer and heat a £400-00 piece of kit it seems to put me off slightly ????!!??

Yeah you'd think it fitted properly for the money but it doesn't....not till you adjust it anyway!

Paul,

Thats what I'd do..... at a later stage you may want to swap the backbox or centre section (which is what I'm considering) but you might as well wait till you get used to (and bored of) what you've already paid for......

blerk....... theres been a new development in the works !!!! grrrrr
im goin loco here ! lol
ive been reading throught the threads on magnex twin downpipes and there seemed to be an awful lot of fitting problems with these products so im in another state of confusion !!!! im gonna hang on until monday and phone ggr and performance suabru re their sports cat downpipes, if push come to shove i would much rather just have a sport cat downpipe on and f**k the mot hassles, if im only gonna loose 2-3bhp(but still gain 10bhp/inc torque/inc spoolup) then that will weigh up the mad price. But i dont know if the ggr downpipe or performance subaru downpipe will fit str8 to my ppp decatted centre section etc blah blah blah yackerty shmakerty

Paul,

How are you getting on? Have you taken the plunge yet?

If you're still struggling, have a word with Graham at Midland Impreza (www.midland-impreza.com)

Tell him the guy with the RB5 sent ya :-)

He knows more about it than me and astonishingly will point you to the right product - not necessarily what he has in stock!!!

now then people, all who care and some who dont !! lololol
right me money has been spent, ive finally after bending everyones ears, and five weeks living on here went for the ggr sports cat downpipe, which ggr and AWChampions(scooby rally garage)assure me will fit WITHOUT heating or hammering, and a magnex str8 through centre section (no cat no resonator)- to replace my ppp decatted centre section. Cost me about £500, and about £90 to £150 to fit (the cost alone has made me religious).
So hoping if the parts get delivered mon to get fitted mon or tues, fingers crossed everything goes to plan, then no messing about at mot time.
When i talked to my garage they would not take off my decat centre and replace with a catted centre, they said if all went wrong or i got road checked they could be dragged into any chew, so this may cost me more but at least itll be road legal(AWChampions told me their rally cars now have to have specialist sports cats to enter their races !!)
So hopefully in a few days Fatty ill be able to post happy satisfied blown away with the results posts.....
paul
