WHen I was looking, Graham Goode offered the cheapest one, but didnt have any in stock. In fact, when I wanted to buy one, absolutely nobody had any in stock. Graham Goodes were about £85+vat as far as I remember.
I ended up making my own for nothing from junk lying about my garage using the flanges from the original pipe. Also ported the manifold and heads at the same time, and matched the turbo to the new up pipe.
Did it make any difference?? Hard to say actually..the car had been off the road for a while while i did it all

John If you want it doing, drop me a mail...

Im sure others can sort locally though...

I drilled the holes out and welded some studs in.. (not perfect if you snap a stud... but was the easiest option at the time)

Just fitted Graham Goode up pipe and it was a sod.The pipe though was excellent much better quality than some I've seen and I'd recommend it to anyone.Difficult to say how much performance inc' was due to this as I did downpipe at same time.Overall effect is fantastic and because of the effort involved do both at once if you've not already done the downpipe.

Thanks for the very kind offer David

Has anyone lost out on boost threshold because of presumed lower exhaust gas velocity with the wider pipe?

John,

The standard headers and up-pipe are a bit of a mess really, I think it's hard not to improve them.

When I replaced my admittedly split up pipe for a rigid pipe one I noticed that boost was coming in later.

With the link tried adjusting the Wastegate Base area but couldn't get decent control as the car was set up - 1.1mm restrictor in the feed from the turbo to the 3 port solenoid.

With a little bit of prodding from a friend (not Mark for once I think he was away!) I removed the restrictor and adjusted the Wastegate Base again (the scale runs 0 to 100 IIRC the lower the number the more 'slugged' it is) and I went from running 16 to 28, with far more control, less overboost on cold damp days and much better throttle response!

In the end I felt that boost was coming in better and stronger with the larger diameter rigid pipe than the stock one

JB,

no problem if you need the bolt re-welded,lets face it,it is not the first time parts of your car have had the chop/bodge
