I am presently pushing the standard engine, but it seems to make goodish power with a 7000 RPM red line. STis also have different cams. I gather if you are upgrading that there are better options than the STi pistons even though they are lighter and stronger than the Euro spec pistons. The conrods are another weak point.

How much boost are you running the VF30 at from 6000-7000 RPM presently?

Also do you have a good intercooler?

Hello,

I oww an Impreza Turbo of 1998 with a VF30, APEXI AVC-R boostcontroller and a unichip output about 300pk. This is a bigger turbo then the VF23 and can hold the boost to >7500 rpm.
I know a standard block cannot take this kind of RPM. But what can I do to reach this. An STI is possible to drive over the 7500 rpm. So what kind of component do I have to use from an STI to put it on my car and drive over 7500 rpm. I know the STI has a different pistons, but i do not know the rest. Can somebody tell me, and also an advice of it is worth to do it??

Regards Mike

I have a electronic boost controller so I can run 1.3 bar on every RPM. In my case to 7000rpm. THe "RPM CUT" is on 7200 so a little bit too early,.
Second problem is this RPM CUT ( I do not know the exact word for) how can I undo it?? There is a fuel cut defenser, speed defenser but NO rpm defencer. I drive with a unichip, but insiders said that is not possible to undo the RPM CUT.

conrods on STI are the same on all classic cars, the lighter pistons will reduce the loading on the pistons, a bit.

AFAIK you need to program the original or a full standalone ECU to increase rev limits rather than use piggyback techniques. If you can do it with a piggyback - damn impressive and possibly a little worrying given what is involved in extending a map to higher RPM with all the wrong control signals/timing.
