Question

Does anyone have any thoughts on the reason for the apparent weakness of the number three big end bearing on Imprezas?

We have rebuilt a number of engines and cannot figure our any meaningful pattern ie. specific versions, uk vs Japan etc. I am aware that V5 engines are supposed to be the weakest but cannot verify this from our experience.

Any answers or suppositions welcome...

Best

Mark

Use the search function and look for big end or cyl 3.

You'll find a good weekend full of reading from some very knowledgable people. There are no firm conclusions though.

No 3 is not by any means the most common, the rest fail just as readily.
