Hi all,
I found a jap website which reveals which scoob engines have closed/open deck blocks. First you have to use
http://babel.altavista.com/ as the jap text translator and then type in
http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~miner/Impreza/misc_dataeg.html
to translate the whole web-page.

To those who know they have a closed deck block its worth checking on this site to make sure everything is legit so we can trust it.

I hope this helps everyone.

there's a mixed bag I think you will find, some that should, don't and vice versa.

best bet is visual inspection

Pavlo,
When you say visual inspection, do you mean by having the engine appart or is there an easier way???

Cheers

I didnt really think the mesh pattern meant it was closed deck! A friend who had a rebuild had raised mesh pattern and his block was open deck.

I think it depends on where the mesh patern is..... not just that it has it.

There are probably some more physical differences as moray points out. Torch just makes it easier to see.

I'll know for sure when I swap engines.

There's probably some different webbing and all sorts, maybe even part number differences.

Gez,

how local are you to mill hill?

I think yodi mentioned that he knows you.

the best thing to do to compare the differences is to look at one in the flesh.

I can show you my 2.2 closed deck at some point, then you can see what is being talked about.

If you are thinking of going internal at that point, it might be worth you meeting mark aigin too at that point. A useful person to know when embarking on the things you seem to have on your mind!
