ok i recently fitted one to my93wrx.

i was doing a bit of running around one day and suddenly noticed that my temp guage had gone up 3'4 of the way, usually i can do the same as standard i/c and the temp will stay on half way no matter what i was doing ?!?!

is this normal for the pace kit ???

alos if you have a pace kit, please post some pics here of underbonnet shots

dave

Two people with Pace FMICs have told me their cars run noticably warmer and one commented his cooling fans were on most of the time.

The water radiator is also smaller which does not help but your temp should be normal in the cruise on open roads.

I haven't noticed the temp getting hot on my car, but the fans do run a lot more than they used to (even in this weather they are on every time you are in traffic) The air con really suffered in the warm weather and couldn't stay cold on hot days if you were stationary in traffic (when you want it most!).

Here are a couple of pics of it mounted to my MY94 WRX. I have since swapped the long piece of blue samco at the back right hand side of the engine bay with the short section front right as this seems to make the right hand tub fit much better.

Rayman,

I didn't install it . Scoobymania supplied and fitted it, but they couldn't do all the job. It came back from them with some foam taped over the end of the standard inlet pipe, and I got my mechanic to make up an adapter to mount the Blitz induction kit to. The good thing was that Scoobymania charged a flat rate of £150 to fit it, and they took about 10 hours to fit it, so I got a relative bargain. I have also played around with the routing of the pipes to get a better fit. It is a bloody tight fit with the aircon rad there, the rads will have to be removed for the next cambelt change, but luckily thats a long way off as I changed it at the same time this lot was fitted.

Performance gains are difficult to quantify as I had a remap at the same time. The car went from 294bhp/275lb.ft to 330 bhp and 300 lb.ft. At 294bhp on 380 injectors it was running 100% idc and the intercooler was struggling, which is why I went to FMIC, 440 injectors, but then they were running 95% idc at 330 bhp. So I now have 550 injectors and uprated fuel pump (std. reg) and idc is now down to 85%

fyi, when we specced the original fans for the pace system, each smaller fan actually flows almost as much as both standard fans.

the spahl units are simply much better, and neater.

The wiring for air con is interesting though.

ON the standard car, only one fan is on, except when the aircon requires the second to switch on.

By running the pace system, both fans run in parallel all the time, instead of in the standard setup.

Can someone help me revert it back to the normal set up, as when mine comes back I have a pace rad with the same spahl fans in place although mine are 13 inches instead of 10.

Regardless I would like it run in the same way, ie. one fan except when aircon asks for the second to come in.

oh, stuart move that bloody number plate, kind of defeats the object of having a front mount if you cover 40% of it up...

A friend has the Pace fitted to his legacy, with both fans connected together. No Aircon fitted. Fuse had to slightly uprated as the first time they came on, the fuse blew. No problems with water temps, even in hot weather, including some drag racing

Cool

Dave,

on mine with the HKS temps went up 6 degs.

Completely opened up front as you have seen and moved to Evo style plate - temps dropped at least 6 degs - so with FMIC car probably runs even cooler - very important for track days
