Mark,
normally a 15w50 rated is good for running down to around the minus 20ish mark so should be ok, what it will do though is put a little more strain on the starter motor in the morning so using a little more battery power (its an excuse to go for a long drive )

Mine got so bad the starter didn't even get chance to try to start the car.... you could just hear the relay/solenoid clicking it's little *** off!
What's weird is that my lambdalink had been playing up giving some very weird readings..... new battery and it's now sorted .
