Thoughts on IC's
#1
Hi all, I have a PPP WRX running a VF23 but am considering trading in the VF23 (and its lag) for a MRT uprated TMIC and running my TD04 with that. What benefits can be expected from the EXACT SAME configuration on a car and just switching out to a very large IC ?

It'll be better, obviously, but I'd still expect the td04 to be too weak at the top end - at the end of the day it's still a small turbo. How much of a difference are you seeing between 04 and 23? Assuming you use manual boost control, should only be 500rpm - if you're still using the factory solenoid then that's the issue, different turbo requires different duty cycles.
Try a dawes (or get an EcuTek remap) - you may be pleasantly surprised

Bleggh on the Dawes, I like the standard control because our
conditions are so harsh (6000ft above sea level) and our fuel is so cr@p (93 Ron) that I like the ECU to look after the motor and
pull boost etc. My MY01 with VF23 boosts 1.1bar under good conditions, 0.9 under bad conditions and thats all done by the ECU, ambient conditions and knock sensing (I think). Hopefully the MRT TMIC will help keep the engine in one piece and then I'll probably look for a TD04L hybrid after I've researched into it.
The VF23 is wicked after 4000rpm, I've just had enough of continually trying to keep the motor revving above that. At 100mph
in 5th, my car is just getting full boost if I floor it when cruising ... I would prefer this to be @ around 80mph !
