Hey all,

Has anybody ever thought of (in their Type R's) setting their 5th gear to a longer one for more economical motorway cruising, or alternatively;

Will a 6 speed box from a MY02 fit my 2000 W Reg STi Type R ??

Cheers,

Scott

Will not be straight forward to fit the six speed and you will need drive shafts I expect. Could be a big job.
Solution could be a taller 5th gear if yours is a .825? fifth. A .738 will give you longer legs in 5th.

Talking

I'm having mine done this week. (0.825 to 0.738)

I'll let you know how it goes.

John Felstead went the other way about a month ago with his RA, but then he does 'live' on the Ring and he wanted the 'proper' rev drop to 5th.

I've been told the 6 speed would need some hammer 'mods' to the tunnel but I dunno. You might have to get a special prop done too...
