Pete,

If I did get one and it did fail, would you repair under warantee (assuming you fitted it) Also how much is it gonna cost me (inc vat & fitting)

It is very tempting, and I moght just do it.

I wonder if there is a risk now I'm running the tek2 for the cat to fubar my turbo??

I am currently running at 271Bhp in my MY01, with a full SS exhaust and a TEK2 conversion and am generally happy.....

However I am now thinking of doing some more, as my car felt pretty slow yesterday, so I think it it time for a new up-pipe.

But ..

I have ehard stories that the cheaper non flex joint pipes suffer gasket failure , so I am a bit hesitant to change it.

Also I would like to hear from any one that has done this to an 01 car. Did it make that much improvement ?

Cheers,

Olly.

Here's some of my comments from another thread.....
Take no notice of where I mention 17psi as from what I've heard,it ain't correct!!!! (It's more like 14psi)

Good luck and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Ecutek? (What torque does it have now? What's the driveability like?)

Cheers

Nick

Hi Olly

A few of the first up pipes we supplied did leak and this caused the gaskets to fail.

Our new supplier machines the flanges after assembly and they are perfectly flat. These new up pipes do not leak.

oops,

forget to say, car is alot smoother now, but seems to be effected loads by weather.

Before the TEK, the rev's had three segments

1. 500-3000 Rpm pulled ok.
2. 3000-4500 loads of power.
3. 4500- redline crazy pulling power !!

I noticed jerkyness as it went to each stage.

now it is like one engine again and very smooth. Boost is up to peak 18Psi (hits 18 very rarely), but normally only gets to about 16.5 psi and will tail off towards the end of the revs ..

Merve did say that I should do the up-pipe and it will make a big difference, so maybee.

Peak power is now 271, however Merve had to do an ECU reset and rekkons it will climb steadily more.

Olly.

Olly - I can answer part of your question, as my car is booked into scoobysport to get one of the new up-pipes fitted next week now. The cost including VAT and fitting - including a full set of new gaskets and studs (I believe some people re-use the old ones) came to £404 IIRC. The price is a few quid (£20ish, IIRC) more than Power Engineering, for example, but I believe the new scoobysport part is one of the best. Fitting costs more than the pipe itself as it is not an easy job, 4 hours ish for the experts - I have done my own downpipe and still didn't really fancy the up-pipe.

Apologies to Pete if I got any of that wrong!

Phil

Spot on Phil and Olly we guarantee that it will fit perfectly.

One of the advantages of our new manufacturing process is that all pipes are now CNC bent. This ensures a perfect fit every time.
