I have a 99 STI Type R which has done 44k miles & now coming up for its 45K service.
One prob which I would like to get sorted at the same time is a wurring noise which seems to come from the drivers side rear wheel but only does this when turning round left hand corners meaning the weight is moving to the right hand side of the car.
It sounds like a nackered wheel bearing and I have been quoted £148 for one!!! but was told they dont seem to go this early, normally around 60K miles.
My car has neever been on track and I dont drive it that hard.
Any one got any comments?

yep, had my drivers side rear wheel bearing replaced a few weeks ago. This is an STi5 TypeRA. I had 33K miles on the clock.
Sounds like your is on its way out if the note changes under left hand cornering.

the typeR/RA has a bigger wheel bearing than a P1/UK car. you need a bearing, asociated grease seals and circlip. Parts should come to about £80. Labour could be 3 hours as they have to strip the rear hubs and press the bearing out/in.
