MY00 Gearbox Question...

It all started when my MY00 went in for its 30K service. I was told by the dealer that gear teeth had been found when the gearbox was drained. Booked the car in to get the gearbox rebuilt (under warranty) and I have been told by the dealer that the centre diff was on its way out.
Neither Mrs nor I crunch the gears too badly so I am wondering what may have caused this - I don't believe this could be normal wear and tear for 30K miles.
Any ideas?
Cheers in advance,
Rich

if teeth were found then you would have heard awful noises from the gearbox particularly from the gear that they come off of. as for the diff there is nothing visable from the out side to tell that a diff is going as it is a viscous coupling and all the plates are sealed inside. so i dont know how they diagnosed that, back to the teeth though i suspect that what they have found are bits of the washer that when you put it in to third gear stops the hub from going to far. it then bends the washer after a time and touches other gears which break it up and the bits fall in to the bottom and come out stuck on the magnet.
but i spose the good side is that it is still under warranty so you shouldn't have to pay anything.
