Will MY93WRX fuel rails/injectors fit MY97-98 inlet manifold?
#1
As the title says.... i've been offered a MY98 maifold and want to covert my TD05 turbo to front entry etc and wanted to know if my rails/injectors will fit. Im hoping they will as they are both phase one?
Cheers,
Tony.
Has anybody done this conversion.... if so what parts do i need.... intercooler, header tank, manifold etc???

I think it is easier to lift the std manifold to get clearance. I think Ian UKLegacyT asked before and ai gave a description of whats involved, but it is a lot of work to use the MY98 manifold.
All phase 2 injectors seem to be 440cc.
97-98 would be 380cc std, and 440cc for sti, although I have had trouble actually finding any of these???
Phase 2 fuel rails99-00 can be made to fit the early manifold without too much hassle.

They should connect OK, with a bit of messing with water/emissions pipes under the manifold. But dont forget that a closed throttle switch will need to be added, as the early car uses a 4 wire TPS which is a potentiometer, + closed switch, but the newer manifold uses a 3 wire TPS, which is a potentiometer only. They arent interchangeable, as they are on opposite sides, and rotate different directions.
At the end of the day, anything can be made to fit, it just depends on how much you want to do it.

Hmmmmmmm...... i've read a post by Pat (22B.com) and hes aid that all he did was solder on a MY97 connector to the MY93 loom and plug it in to the MY97 TPS????? I've checked on mine and it is 4 wire and my brother-in-laws is 3 wire (MY97) like you say?????????? .

Yes, but is Pat using the std ecu....I dont think so.
I dont know what effect using only 3 wires would have with the std ecu. It may be none, but I havent tried it to find out. It may however bring on a CEL, and cause running problems.
It would be easy I suppose to add a microswitch to the linkage to use the 4 wires if thats the way you decide to go.

you will need a idle switch otherwise it will do odd things.
personally I think it will be possible to fit the original sensor if there is room, as it's on an adaptor plate anyway, so should just need the throttle spindle machining or an adapter.
