On the throttle body, the opposite end to the throttle cable and return springs there is a sensor. In my opinion it must measure throttle position or something similar.
Would someone please tell me what this sensor is/ what it controls/and the consequences if it is positioned incorrectly.
It seems to have a certain amout of adjustment to rotate it, using lengthened holes.
Many thanks Keith.

Throttle Position & RPM are the main references used by the ECU for 3D mapping of quite a few things eg boost control ie what is run at 2000 RPM & 50% throttle or 6000 RPM & WOT.

Have a look at the DIY ECU remap thread theres some piccies of some of the 3D maps there.

The Throttle Position Sensor also contains the Idle Switch.

Wouldn't recommend playing with this coz it can be awkward to calibrate.

Cheers,

Chris

Thumbs down

Slight addition to Chris's statement there...

I've had ALOT of problems with my MY97 (newer shape scoop, lights etc, but not phase2 - TD04L turbo tho!). basicly the MY97-> cars DONT have an idle switch integrated into it.

it's JUST a position switch.

It should read about 0.3 volts on closed throttle IIRC & go to about 4.8 / 5v at full WOT.

it can be a b****r to set up & u need a multimeter and almost take the whole car apart to get to it properly

if it's working-dont touch it. I had to get a complete throttle body replacement on mine to fix my silly problems !

Steve
