What a revelation!

Swapped out the OEM supplied AE802 ECU for a MY99 AE801, and what a new car I now have.
The car no longer shutters and hunts when cold between 2000 and 3000 rpm

It runs smoother and pulls cleaner to the red line when warm.
As per the rolling road tests that are published at the ecuteck web site I guess
just from driving the car that there is a 10% torque/power increase.

Value for money wise this is the best tuning part I have ever bought.
I recommend this mod to all MY00 AE820 ECU owners, you will not be disappointed.

SimonH many thanks.

Thumbs up

No probs glad you're pleased with it

I certainly think it was one of the best things I did to my MY00 in terms of "bang for buck".

Cool

And you could always swap it for an Ecutek Tek2 if you get bored!

Wink

Hmmmm, my car with it's 801 and decat was 257bhp and 236tq on PE's rollers. At £100 odd it was a fair bit cheaper than a TeK2 and not far off Tek2 figures

Hi,

Need some advise here....
I drive a my00, with a ae802 ecu. Will i benefit from the ae801 ecu with my current setup?

Std airbox with Sti panel filter with cold air duct.
VF28 + Sti version 5 intercooler.
Downpipe + decat + 3" exhaust system with sti back muffler.

Really you need a remap to help that nice turbo and IC along.

Thanks John! I personally thought that should be the way too but i can't find a reliable and good tuner here in my country, Singapore.

The nearest Ecutek dealer is in Australia....i.e MRT
Do you think a tek 2 will suit my setup?
If no, what can you recommend the least i could do besides not sticking to my ae802!!

Sorry...another question, with the extra airflow provided by the vf28, will i run into lean spots with the ae801, say i keep my boost at 1 bar?

Pls help

AFAIK people rank them in numerical order with regards to the best ecu.

Therefore AE800 is better than AE801 which in turn is better than an AE802.

Actually, the AE800 IIRC was for the 98 car and was different to the 99-00 cars. I don't think the 800 is interchangable with the 801 and 802 and is also not reprogrammable as it's a different generation of ECU.

Anybody ready to shoot me down in flames?

Matt
