Standard - needed flywheel as well as it had loads of stress fractures in it.

Moving to Drivetrain, as there are lots of useful threads in there and this thread won't get lost in the clutter of the general forum

There are many designs of paddle clutch. Some will be VERY grabby, and unforgiving to use. Others will be far easier to use, based on the their design, and no heavier than a stock clutch.

One thing to be aware of, is that if you have a tuned car, or a fairly aggressive driving style, the use of a paddle clutch is far more likely to break your gearbox.

For most people, a good up rated organic clutch is the better option, for both ease of use, and longevity.

Mark.

I agree with R19ket 100%. Unless its producing lots of torque (clutches are torque rated, not bhp) then avoid a paddle clutch.

Most good organic clutches are rated to around 320/340 lb/ft of torque.

Paddle clutches don't always have to be heavier. I've got an AP 4 paddle plate fitted to mine which is fine. Its basically a lot sharper and judders when slipping it to pull away etc. but overall far more positive and capable of transferring the power the standard unit.
The kids in the back might spill the McD's milkshake when you pull away though......

will second dhorwich about import car parts clutches. had mine put in today - fitted by my local garage (rally mechanic ) for £100.

The car runs standard UK power. My first impressions of the clutch are very good.
