Spark plugs and performance
#1
Hi,
I've had a few problems with hesitation recently that was fixed by new spark plugs - one thing I've noticed - on the NGK 6's - there is more pull low down (3000rpm+ but runs out of steam about 6000rpm), on the NGK 7's there is more pull further up (5000rpm and keeps pulling right to the redline but has less pull lowdown).
What I want to know is, can I change the gap to have a the best comprise? - think the NKG 6's are 8mm, the NGK7's are 7mm.
Regards
Lee

My own experience is with the NGK 6, I gap them at the minimum 0.7mm and it seems to work fine. Never tried the 7s. I've found that spark plug gap is worth spending time over -- even a 0.1mm (or 4 thou) too-big gap makes a noticable difference!

reducing the gap can cause big problems with hotspots. be careful with this course of action. Not sure that I would use 7s for your car Dario but am willing to be corrected by someone who may know more about it than me.
