Question

Phoned PE this morning enquiring about a new air filter and the guy told me that I could only fit a panel to a MY01, and there is no cone or induction option at tresent.

Is this correct ?? I was hoping to try a K&N Induction kit (currently have ITG panel)

Exclamation

There are issues with induction on the MY00 and upwards:
They seem to have very fragile MAF sensors, and so a lot of people will not fit a cone kit becuase it means disturbing the MAF.

Also: Any oil impregnated filters CAN cause problems (though I have used an ITG panel filter for over 25,000 miles and my MAF is fine. This may be becuase the ITG is polymer imregnated, not oil. Or I may be lucky) with them leaving a residue on the Sensor wire of the MAF. Again, this is bad.

I would suugest you post a thread and call it "what induction kit MY00?" as you will get much better feedback from MY00 owners. (I'm not one.)

K+N will shortly be launching a full powerflow air filter for the MY01, a BBS user from liverpool has one fitted to his car by K+N,he lets them use his car for development work. The kit removes the complete air box and existing MaF placement and is replaced by a large chrome induction unit which fits into the inner wing with a cone filter attached, the complete install looks the dogs danglies as it comes with some rather nice Samco hoses to connect all the pieces together.

Zippy
