I have a MY94 Import WRX looked it up and its 240BHP as STD I notice that when I go to get parts its always 94-97 etc the BHP goes up from 240 to 260 MY95 then 280 as the models go up so do these cars all have the same turbo and just have different ECU setting or different ECU etc ?

wrxs up to and including 96 all have TD05s.

difference is entirely in mapping.

you also only have 380cc injectors, so even with a mappable ecu will 300 will be your limit. after 96, intercooler changed and moved, and wrxs started using vf 22s. some I have seen had vf 23s.

 

Thanks m8 this is a new toy for me anyway as the fastest car I had before this was a R5 Turbo running at 18Psi pushing out 170bhp I think. So this is wicked, got HKS system, K*N on there and getting a Dawes device so hoping to get close to 300BHP then if thats the max so be it !

Another quick one, as I have the same ECU as the 260bhp model can I have subaru adjust it to 260bhp or do I have to buy an aftermarket ECU....or will by dawes be ok to get extra BHP ?

 

Subaru won't/can't touch it - Dawes will sort you (I think - makes a big difference which MY/origin of the car) or an aftermarket ECU.
But a Dawes is a bit cheaper

Have you got to remove the Downpipe CAT ?
Presumably the center cat is as there is a HKS system on there.
