I have started to get an annoying rattle from the engine bay on my MY01 whilst driving,it comes only when the engine is under load and lasts for about 2 sec's,it sounds (Tinny) like a metal on metal vibration but its only started since i had my boost gauge installed by the dealeri've had the dealer check the heatsheild and exhaust in general and i've removed the IC guard that is fitted but i still have this bloody vibrating noise.
Any constructive ideas as to what it may be would be greatly welcomed.

Totally unrelated to the mods you have done.. i remember seeing a thread regarding brake pipes rattling against the bulkhead not too long ago. Might just be happening at certain revs/vibration. Just a suggestion.

Its the heatshield again. I had the same thing, they tightened it, it went away for about 2 days, now its back again. The dam thing keeps working itself loose on some of the nuts. Ask them to change the bolts n nuts then it should be ok.

I think i may have found the answer,it only happens when the engine starts to boost,i think it's a loose waste gate, its in the dealers today to see if they can sort it out,the noise starts as soon as it hits 0 on the gauge and is gone as soon as it rises to
.1, but if you hold it on 0 on the gauge it rattles like a bag of spanners.
I will post the results when i get it back.
