shropshire guy (where abouts are you anyway? near oswestry etc?)

anyway, legacy is same as impreza. havent got photos as i would need to remove bits from my engien to show you properly.

however, you dont need them. see the starter motor? (rear left side of engine).... remove it. its held on by a long bolt at the top, and a nut at the bottom. disconnect battery before you work on the car too

now, with the starter out of the way, stand by the left hand front wing. look towards and past where the starter was. on the side of the gearbox (same height as where starter was), you'll see an alloy plug about an inch diameter with a 10mm hex (allen key) fitting. use a 10mm hex to remove this plug.

now, the pin is inside there. all you now need to allow you to remove it is a long 6mm metric (M6) bolt. put it in there and it screws into the end of the pin. screw as far as it will.

now simply pull on it and the pin comes out. if it is stuck, just grip the head of the bolt with molegrips and tw*t them with a hammer.

i know it sounds long winded, but it takes 10mins.

hope it helps

ian
