uk power upgrade
#1
The time has come to get more power( subject to improved braking!)
I am hoping to achieve between 260-280bhp out of my '97 uk turbo, without losing the cat and preferably not going down the ppp route.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK,
you could go the PE route and get a performance cat fitted plus an uprated ecu and exhaust, it may cost you a few quid but supposedly its meant to be very good

quote - Can a UK turbo comfortbly take 280BHP without the need for an uprated clutch?
NO, def need an uprated clutch. I put a borg'n'beck on mine, even with 18-19 psi, it manages ok...no slippage.

Hi,
TEK2/3 is for Phase II only onwards. PE did do the 'stage one' daugterboard for the MY97/98, but don't think that they do anymore.
Possumlink is a good solution for the MY98, especially in conjunction with downpipe and mid/back sections.
Regards,
Alex

My clutch is still OK at 1.5 bar with FMIC and a big turbo and maxxed out 440s (ie somewhere between 320 and 350 BHP depending on who you believe ). I've only done about 10000 miles over 280 BHP though and some are saying it is only a matter of time for my clutch... I use the power a fair bit, but am quite sympathetic to it. I know if I miss one change it could stuff the gearbox in one go with this much torque so am quite careful.
